About Us

Weta Workshop is a physical effects workshop specialising in the areas of design, fabrication and the on-set operation of special makeup effects and prosthetics, armour, weapons, creatures and miniatures. We also have a children’s television production company (Weta Productions) which requires skilled technicians in the areas of digital animation and creative digital solutions.

The purpose of this database is to

  • Access skilled people when we need to find new crew, and
  • Locate past crew members as the need arises

Some important things to note

  • Our crew are PRIMARILY New Zealand based, for reasons of supporting local talent, and due also to strict immigration laws
  • This site is to register your interest - its not an actual application for a position so unfortunately we wont reply to registrations unless we are actively recruiting.
  • To apply for a position after you have registered here, you're welcome to send your CV / Portfolio to WETA WORKSHOP LIMITED - PO Box 15 208 – Miramar – Wellington - New Zealand. You should include a short concise letter demonstrating your specific skills, your experience, your country of origin and why you have a desire to work at Weta Workshop. Accompany this with any examples of the work that you do. We prefer printed matter e.g. photos, colour photocopies etc, we simply don’t have the time to print out multiple images from CD ROMS or internet sites. If your work is moving images, then video or DVD is fine. Do not send originals. If you want your work returned you must mark this clearly and enclose a stamped, self-addressed envelope. Of course it is beneficial for both of us if we can keep it on file.
  • Weta Digital is our sister company with their own recruitment process, please check out their requirements on www.wetafx.co.nz

For your information

  • Please watch this site to see when we have posted new jobs, this is a clear indication of whether or not we are recruiting.
  • It’s to your benefit if you can upload some images, so we can see your talent at a glance.
  • A photo is also a great visual reminder. If we have met or worked with you before – a face is often easier to remember than a name.
